With us going to see family in February, and family coming to see us in March... we really haven't found time to dedicate a post to Allen Jess and all of his infant achievements in the past few months! I've always heard that your baby will grow more in the first year of their life than at any other time... but like most anything, seeing is believing! And just within the past few months, we can definitely see our sweet little boy growing and developing so unbelievably quickly. Of course we wouldn't want you to miss out on any of the cool things Allen has been doing lately, so we thought we'd share a few of his more memorable & exciting milestones he's recently achieved!
Luckily, bedtime hasn't been too much of a struggle... especially when Mommy reads to Allen before bed. And although this really isn't anything new, he is beginning to really enjoy his bedtime reading!
One day Jeilene & Allen decide to go for a stroll. But when Jei goes to put Allen in his infant carrier... he pitches an absolute fit and refuses to ride in it! So after forcing, talking, negotiations, and bribing all failed, Jei just simply put the carrier away and sat Allen's temperamental booty in the stroller facing forwards for the first time without his infant carrier! And even though Jei & I didn't like it so much just cause of the fact that we could no longer see his cute little face while we strolled, Allen Jess on the other hand totally loved it!
As far as the car was concerned though,
we still had to squeeze Allen into that infant carrier!
As you can tell, he was just getting too big (lengthy) for it... and since he wasn't going to be using it for strolling any longer, we didn't see the need for him to use it in the car anymore either!
So we broke out the big boy car-seat...
and he seemed quite pleased with his new accommodations!
Speaking of getting bigger... the bather that we thought was so huge when he was just a newborn certainly doesn't look so huge now! It's Allen who looks huge in it now, and he's quickly outgrowing it!
One of the more exciting things Allen has learned recently...
is the whole new skill of sitting up on his own!
We certainly had to keep a watchful eye in the beginning. He'd only last 10 to 15 seconds before falling over and getting upset, but lately he's been sitting up for long periods of time, playing at home with his toys and watching his favorite cartoons...

And calling all of his family and friends just to say hi!
So one day while Allen & I were playing in the living room on his favorite blanket, I just about jumped out of my socks in excitement when Allen suddenly got into the pushup position!
And I'm pretty sure he was just as excited as I was!
I didn't think the pushup position was in the whole learning how to crawl process... but considering he was wearing his camouflage army pants, I just thought he was training... so I let him be and watched in amazement!
Now if that's not the face of determination...
I just don't know what is!?

Okay, so no crawling just yet... but after an afternoon of juggling both baking a cake and trying to take care of Allen, we knew we needed something to occupy Allen for a while when Jei has baking to do in the kitchen. A short trip to the kids consignment store down the street where we purchased a walker for $7 that certainly solved that problem!
Heck, maybe we'll skip crawling all together
and go straight to walking?
It definitely took some getting used to...
but everyday he's getting better & better at it!
Another big milestone we all were excited about was his very first tooth making it's grand appearance! We could start to feel it as Allen sucked & gnawed on our fingers, but it was hard to get a photo of it! So one day as Allen fell asleep for a nap...
Jei & I did our best to not wake him up,
and try to get a picture of his very first tooth!
He's actually now just getting another one coming in too...
so little baby boy is toothless no longer!
And with brand new teeth...
comes the fascination of crunching on yummy snacks!
Within the past few months Allen Jess has certainly been doing a lot of growing, learning, and playing. It's absolutely amazing being able to see how he develops everyday and watch as he learns new things and achieve new milestones! And knowing most everyone can't be here everyday watching him grow... I hope posts like these help keep you up to date as much as possible. But with all the recent changes going around here, one thing remains a constant... Allen Jess loves his pretty Momma!
