Wedded Bliss

After realizing our list of qualified babysitters was incredibly short... and was actually getting shorter by the day, we decided to take Allen Jess with us to our friend's wedding in San Diego and babysit him ourselves! With a belly full of milk, he was out like a light... so we quickly dressed him up in the nicest outfit we had and hoped he would at least sleep through the ceremony!

He woke up very briefly while in church, but was otherwise a sweet sleepy little baby. (Definitely earned a Gold Star!)

The reception was right on the bay (Mission Bay), which was a spectacular setting with a fantastic view... but it was unfortunately marred with horrible rainy weather!

The weather actually cleared up by the end of the night, but we still felt bad because, well... nobody wants to get married in the rain!!!

It was all about teamwork I tell ya! Passing Allen Jess off to one another while the other went to the bathroom, hit the open bar, or just mingle with friends... we definitely made it work. And of course Allen was way more popular than Jei & I were... and made us feel like we had just crawled out of a dumpster! Nobody cared about us... they just wanted a piece of Allen Jess!

After multiple feedings and of course all the attention...
it was only a matter of time!

The cake was gorgeous but was incredibly huge! Needless to say, Jei was quite thankful that she wasn't called upon to try and build this behemoth!

Apparently, the surf & turf for dinner just didn't seem to agree with Allen Jess's stomach... and managed to throw-up on both his parents and all over himself multiple times! But after a quick wardrobe & diaper change, he was back and ready to dance the night away!

Well, it certainly wasn't our plan to show up with a seven-week-old baby... but it actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. We ate, drank, danced, and had a good time... and we even shut the place down along side the bride & groom! And besides throwing up all over everyone, Allen Jess was a good little boy and it was actually lots of fun having him there with us. So, no babysitter... no problem. This time anyway!

A Disappointing First

I must say... for not dressing up, going to a party, hosting a party, and just staying home, Jei & I were both really excited about our first Halloween as parents! Partly because we had Allen Jess and got to dress him up in his little pumpkin outfit... but mainly because this was going to be our first year actually living in a 'trick-or-treat' worthy neighborhood and getting to pass out candy! We bought two massive bags of candy, a bowl to hold it all in, set out our one pumpkin decoration, and got ready for the hoards of trick-or-treaters that were about to come our way... or so we thought anyway!

"Boo!"

So after dressing up Allen Jess for his first Halloween and waiting patiently but anxiously for the repeated knocks on the door by all the little dressed-up trick-or-treaters wanting our candy... we were completely stunned when the end of the night came and a grand total of three - just three groups of trick-or-treaters for the entire night had stopped by our door!  Not sure if we were more surprised or more disappointed?! Either way, it was sort of an anticlimactic evening... and the worse part about it was the loads of candy we had leftover! We had a ton of candy and a super cute baby dressed up as a pumpkin... so despite not having the amount of tick-or-treaters we thought we'd have, the night wasn't a complete waste... for we saw and took advantage of a perfect picture taking opportunity!
"Hey... is that a Kit Kat?"

"Hmmm... I love chocolate!!!"

Our first Halloween together in the new neighborhood didn't go so well, and it certainly didn't live up to our expectations. But even when a bunch of trick-or-treaters couldn't do the job... we made the best out of a bunch of leftover candy and an adorable pumpkin outfit, as our son provided us all the entertainment we could've ever hoped for! So in the end, it was indeed... a very Happy Halloween!

A 'Howl' Of A Good Time

Halloween weekend was finally upon us...
and what better way to celebrate the spookiness
than with a delicious carne asada Bar-B-Que with family!

Only a select few Ghosts & Goblins made the trip... and we had a feeling they weren't exactly coming to do the Monster Mash with Jei & I, so naturally, we dressed the little Ghoul up in his pre-Halloween outfit for show-and-tell the night before!

Little Frankenstein of course loved all the attention!

The next afternoon a couple of good looking Vampires fired up the grill... for we were hungry, and there just wasn't enough blood to go around!

And while the meat was cooking, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man was well entertained  on the patio with Elvira!

Halloween was still a day away... but that didn't stop us from dressing up! Here we are in our custom made costumes as a "Normal" family!  Scary, huh?!

The little Pumpkin did his best to shoo away all the pesky Bats, Warewolves, Witches, and Skeletons that kept pestering us while we ate outside.

Speaking of eating... the three Zombies picked up some special carne on the way down, and with the help of J.R. at the grill, it turned out absolutely delicious! Throw in a beautiful late afternoon, a quiet little Troll, and some good company... and we had ourselves a great time!

"I vant to suck your blood!!!"

It wouldn't be a family get-together without dessert! And it was definitely a chocolate chip cookie night... in honor of the man of the house: the Cookie Monster!

Well, call it what you want (ahem... baby withdrawal!), but it was certainly nice having company over and we definitely enjoyed passing off the little Mummy to someone other than each other!

HELP!

Seriously???
Um... Hello?
Dude, where'd everybody go?

It was so nice having 'Wela' (Abuela) around for the first few weeks taking care of me and talking to me in Spanish and listening to 94.7 The Wave everyday... and then all of a sudden she disappeared and I got sad... but then Moe-Joe showed up and I got happy again!  And just when I was getting used to Moe-Joe and having her talk to me all the time and taking me to fun places and giving me gold stars... she goes away too! Was it me? Did I do something wrong? I wasn't that fussy, was I?

So now I'm left with two really strange people taking care of me. One's an idiot for sure, doesn't really know what to do, and kind of smells... so I'll see if I can't muster up something nasty the next time that one changes me! And the other one is always there - never leaves my side and is always right in my face slobbering all over me with kisses! That one's a little annoying actually, especially with all the ridiculous outfit changes... but I guess I can't complain too much.

I just wish they would get their act together already! They're always leaving me places all by myself, ignoring me while they play on their Internet machine and take naps which they probably don't need, and acting busy... like they have something better to do than to feed, change, and play with me all day!?

I just sure hope they aren't my parents!
I miss you Wela & Moe-Joe!!!

Time Well Spent

It sure didn't seem like nine days was a lot of time or even that it lasted very long... and if you asked her, she'd tell you it certainly wasn't and it definitely did not! Moe-Joe was here visiting her little 'Butterbean' for nine days... and if you asked us, we loved having her and every minute she was here!

As a thank you for visiting, paying for gas, meals and groceries, and taking care of her new Grandson... this post is dedicated to Moe-Joe and all the joy & happiness she brings along with her!

I think if we had left her outside with him for the entire visit,
she would've been quite content!

Even with a bunch of drool, throw-up, and poo on her shirt...
she still was a happy little camper!

"...and then I dreamt I was fishing and caught a fish this big!"

Thank you Moe-Joe for being here and helping us out! We had a great time together and can't wait to see you again... especially Allen Jess; he just loved getting those Gold Stars!  We love you!!!
