A Disappointing First

I must say... for not dressing up, going to a party, hosting a party, and just staying home, Jei & I were both really excited about our first Halloween as parents! Partly because we had Allen Jess and got to dress him up in his little pumpkin outfit... but mainly because this was going to be our first year actually living in a 'trick-or-treat' worthy neighborhood and getting to pass out candy! We bought two massive bags of candy, a bowl to hold it all in, set out our one pumpkin decoration, and got ready for the hoards of trick-or-treaters that were about to come our way... or so we thought anyway!

"Boo!"

So after dressing up Allen Jess for his first Halloween and waiting patiently but anxiously for the repeated knocks on the door by all the little dressed-up trick-or-treaters wanting our candy... we were completely stunned when the end of the night came and a grand total of three - just three groups of trick-or-treaters for the entire night had stopped by our door!  Not sure if we were more surprised or more disappointed?! Either way, it was sort of an anticlimactic evening... and the worse part about it was the loads of candy we had leftover! We had a ton of candy and a super cute baby dressed up as a pumpkin... so despite not having the amount of tick-or-treaters we thought we'd have, the night wasn't a complete waste... for we saw and took advantage of a perfect picture taking opportunity!
"Hey... is that a Kit Kat?"

"Hmmm... I love chocolate!!!"

Our first Halloween together in the new neighborhood didn't go so well, and it certainly didn't live up to our expectations. But even when a bunch of trick-or-treaters couldn't do the job... we made the best out of a bunch of leftover candy and an adorable pumpkin outfit, as our son provided us all the entertainment we could've ever hoped for! So in the end, it was indeed... a very Happy Halloween!

secondly, those pictures are hysterical! He looks like he's in either heaven or a sugar coma in the last one!
and finally, feel free to bring ALL that candy to Colorado for T'giving! I can even make the boys ring the doorbell a whole bunch of times if that'll make you feel better...
