After realizing our list of qualified babysitters was incredibly short... and was actually getting shorter by the day, we decided to take Allen Jess with us to our friend's wedding in San Diego and babysit him ourselves! With a belly full of milk, he was out like a light... so we quickly dressed him up in the nicest outfit we had and hoped he would at least sleep through the ceremony!
He woke up very briefly while in church, but was otherwise a sweet sleepy little baby. (Definitely earned a Gold Star!)
The reception was right on the bay (Mission Bay), which was a spectacular setting with a fantastic view... but it was unfortunately marred with horrible rainy weather!
The weather actually cleared up by the end of the night, but we still felt bad because, well... nobody wants to get married in the rain!!!
It was all about teamwork I tell ya! Passing Allen Jess off to one another while the other went to the bathroom, hit the open bar, or just mingle with friends... we definitely made it work. And of course Allen was way more popular than Jei & I were... and made us feel like we had just crawled out of a dumpster! Nobody cared about us... they just wanted a piece of Allen Jess!
After multiple feedings and of course all the attention...
it was only a matter of time!
The cake was gorgeous but was incredibly huge! Needless to say, Jei was quite thankful that she wasn't called upon to try and build this behemoth!
Apparently, the surf & turf for dinner just didn't seem to agree with Allen Jess's stomach... and managed to throw-up on both his parents and all over himself multiple times! But after a quick wardrobe & diaper change, he was back and ready to dance the night away!
Well, it certainly wasn't our plan to show up with a seven-week-old baby... but it actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. We ate, drank, danced, and had a good time... and we even shut the place down along side the bride & groom! And besides throwing up all over everyone, Allen Jess was a good little boy and it was actually lots of fun having him there with us. So, no babysitter... no problem. This time anyway!
