One of the many things we both missed while away in Roswell... and told each other that we had to do once we got back, was to get up to the mountains and go for a good hike! So me, Jei and Momma Soch all put on our hiking boots and headed north on a somewhat overcast & cool Saturday afternoon and made our way up and into the Angeles National Forest.
Our usual area that we go hiking at was unfortunately closed due to road conditions, so we drove up to a new area that neither Jei or I had ever been to before. Once we got above 5,000 feet though, we got a little worried that we weren't going to see much... for we entered the thick clouds/fog on the way up driving towards the trailhead.
Once we finally parked, we were eager to get out of the car and get some much needed exercise! Even though it was incredibly foggy and a little on the creepy side, we were glad to be on our feet and hiking in the wilderness.
With the first part of the trail being all uphill... and the fact that the air was thinner at over 5500 feet above sea level, the women had a rough start to the hike!
We were kind of disappointed we didn't see any cool wildlife running around except for the occasional squirrel. Although there were a few massive trees that were just as impressive!
With no sunshine, a thick layer of misty fog, and a 50 degree temperature... it wasn't exactly what we were hoping for, but it turned out to be a good hike and well worth the trip! Definitely a good start to a happy Memorial Day Weekend! Hope everyone enjoys theirs!
