Hah... I sure hope you all picked up on the sarcasm cause I was laying it on pretty thick! Totally quite the opposite actually... everyone was super excited about seeing Moe-Joe & Dad-Oh and we couldn't wait for their arrival so our Thanksgiving fun could commence! So while the girls & boys stayed home and cooked and played, the men drove down to Grand Junction and picked up the anxiously awaiting parental units and drove them back to Meeker!
Needless to say... with all the family finally together for the Holiday,
happiness, love and excitement filled the air!
And if there was one thing anybody knew was 100 percent certain,
Moe-Joe missed her sweet boys!
It had only been a mere five and a half weeks, but I'm sure it felt like five and a half months to Dad-Oh... so he was definitely eager to get his hands on his handsome little Grandson!
The rest of us found other stuff to do... like drink beer, cook, and play downstairs, while the Grandparents had their quality time with their new Grandson!
I'll tell you one thing... Moe-Joe wasn't fooling around! She gave Dad-Oh a time limit, and the second that time had expired, she snatched Allen Jess right back up... for her to hold and for everyone else to see!
It took a while, but Moe-Joe finally relinquished her Grandson and actually noticed & acknowledged someone else in the house not named Allen Jess!
But then they were rudely interrupted by Hampton, who apparently had his big-boy-pants on, because he ended up picking a fight with poor ole Moe-Joe...
And then Hamp suddenly realized just how 'poor' and 'ole' Moe-Joe really was... when she tackled him to the ground and made him tap out!
While all the shenanigans were going on downstairs, Mommy & Daddy made sure Allen Jess was fed and had a nice clean diaper so that he could go play with his Moe-Joe!
The party moved outdoors, where it was a balmy 52 degrees!
Perfect weather and a perfect afternoon for a little football! (You think this kid is from Colorado or what!? Probably thinks the 65 degree weather in SoCal is too hot!)
I have to give it up to Dad-Oh... considering the 7 year-old, the dog, the "land mines!", and a completely new knee... he hung in there like a champ!
There were others however,
that had no interest in playing football whatsoever...
All they wanted to do was dance!
Moe-Joe & Allen eventually had to sit out though, so that meant Sammy was left on "stage" all alone with just his whistle to blow.
But he soon ditched the whistle for his pom poms and continued his interpretive cheer!
Eventually, Sammy got tired of playing with his pom poms and cheering for all of us... so he decided to try something else a little more daring! Not sure if his cheering wasn't getting enough attention... or if it just wasn't exciting enough, but he really surprised us all when he picked up his snow disk (sans snow!) and tried this...
Good catch Dad-Oh!!!
No pom poms, football, or sledding for Allen Jess. He & his Moe-Joe were quite content together on the deck watching everyone else play and of course, enjoying each other!
Playing football, dancing, and hanging out just having a good time with family... not sure Thanksgiving afternoons get much better than that!
