On one hand... it's the greatest thing ever! He could be throwing the worst tantrum ever and sobbing his little eyes out, but once we lay him down, turn on the computer and he realizes something is playing on that screen... he completely (and amazingly) calms down and will sit there with his arms & legs moving about, absolutely engrossed in that 10 minute cartoon! And then of course it ends and Allen Jess picks up again where his tantrum left off... until we can run in and quickly click on another episode to play... and then he'll calm down again and watch for another ten minutes!
But on the other hand... I really didn't want to get my Son into the habit of watching cartoons and getting so completely consumed into television programs at such an early age... especially knowing how bad/easily his Father and Aunt Moo get sucked into the televsion (hereditary?)!
Another plus is that it comes in multiple languages. Allen & Jei prefer Spanish because the voices seem more animated... but I really like the English version, only because it's done in an English/Scottish accent! It also comes in German, which I accidentally played once, only after realizing that what I thought was Spanish sure sounded funky! Who knows... maybe Allen Jess will be trilingual?!
But when it comes down to it... when you haven't showered in three days, you don't have any clean clothes to put on yourself or your Son because you haven't had time to do laundry, and the house gets confused with the local garbage dump... you gotta do what you gotta do! And in today's technologically advanced society... finding something to grab Allen's attention for a few shouldn't be, and hasn't so far been too difficult!
